Reading and Writing Her Body & Other Parties

A new course for winter 2023

Hello!

If you’ve been following along on Instagram, you’ll have seen already that the last course for this year is on it’s way! We’ll be reading and writing Carmen Maria Machado’s short story collection, Her Body & Other Parties.

Published in 2017, Her Body & Other Parties won the Shirley Jackson Award, was a finalist for the National Book Award for Fiction, was shortlisted for the International Dylan Thomas Prize, and received more rave reviews than I can count.

We’ve talked about Carmen Maria Machado’s incredible writing before, both in the body horror and Angela Carter courses, so it seemed only fair to give Her Body & Other Parties it’s own turn in the spotlight.

We’ll read the book together, discussing one or two each week, and have prompts inspired by each story, to spark your own fiction, poetry or non-fiction writing.

6 weekly sessions, starting 30th October. Zoom sessions weekly on Mondays, 7.30pm-9pm GMT.
