I’ve only been threatening this course for a year, but it’s finally happening!! Join me in February for fairy tales of all shapes and sizes, from Cupid & Psyche to Grimm to contemporary retellings. We’ll have some writing prompts sprinkled in to spark your own fairytale-inspired writing, and all the usual extras - movie clips, podcasts, playlists - to add some colour to the discussions. This one will be a six-week course, with zoom sessions on a Sunday (10am GMT/8pm AEST) starting on the 2nd February and running up until the 2nd March.
Tickets are available now (and, as always, you’ll get a discount if you’re a paid subscriber - scroll down to the bottom for the code. If you’ve done a Cursive Knives course before, you should have a discount code for this one too, but give me a wave if not!) There is a free space for the course available - just drop me an email or DM and we’ll get that sorted out.
You’ll need something to write on/with, but all readings will be provided in advance (a bit like the body horror course, there’ll be a couple of short stories to read for each week).
If you’ve not joined us for a course before, the group is kept small and informal, and we’ll meet on zoom. It’s always better when people have cameras and mics on, but there’s no pressure at all to share your own writing if you don’t want to (though there’ll be opportunities if you do!). Sessions are not recorded, but you’ll have access to a locked board where you’ll be able to catch up on discussions if you need to!
A heads up for content - although some Disneyfied fairytales will be mentioned, we’ll mostly be looking at originals and modern retellings, and they’re much darker than you might be familiar with. CW for basically everything, including but not limited to: rape, murder, suicide, body horror, gore, terrible mothers-in-law.
Any questions, pop a comment below and I’ll get back to you asap.
Can’t wait!
